My big fat Greek wedding (2002)
Director: Joel Zwick
Starring: Nia Vardalos, Michael Constantine,
A young Greek woman falls in love with a non-Greek and struggles to get her family to accept him while she comes to terms with her heritage and cultural identity.
Finally a comedy that is naturallyfunny! I loved every minute of this delightful, hilarious comedy. The blend of culture and nationality was wonderful, the dialogue and plot great, and the acting fantastically realistic. Andrea Martin in particular was sensational as Aunt Voula. “He don’t eat no meat! What do you mean he don’t eat no meat? That’s okay, I’ll make lamb.” Oh, you gotta love it!!
The film earned $368 million on a $5 million budget.
