Movie Trailers 2
With one month of the U.S. summer gone, and three more summer months to go, most of the big guns have come and gone. But there are still many movies to be shown with one of the most lackluster summer movie season in recent memory. Here are some of the more interesting ones.
Let’s get this out of the way:
Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
I know, it’s not really a summer movie. It will be shown in November, but I couldn’t resist. It’s my mostest favoritestest of all, EVER. Did I mention I like it? And did I mention I’ll probably go through several seizures watching this? And that I’ll cry inconsolably once the 2 final movies have been shown?
The Adjustment Bureau
One of the most intriguing premises this year. If it delivers, this could be the sleeper hit of the summer. Plus, it’s about time Emily Blunt gets on the A-list with this one. I can’t wait to see this. Together with Inception, the teaser trailer of which I already posted, this one really piques my curiosity.
The Switch
My hopes are never high with rom coms, but I think this would make for a decent time while away-er. Plus, it’s the unlikely Jason Bateman to balance out the very likely Jennifer Aniston. I hope she doesn’t play it as the nth version of Rachel Green. It would be nice to see a different version of her.
Countdown To Zero
This will probably give me nightmares to keep me paranoid for months, but I can’t wait to see this. I have a special place in my heart for documentaries. And this seems like one of the more interesting ones this year.
The Other Guys
Will Farrell is pretty hit or miss for me, but I’d like to see where they take this. It’s your textbook odd couple/police buddy movie.
Mao’s Last Dancer
I’m stoked to see this mainly because it’s directed by one of my favorites, Bruce Beresford, who directed “Tender Mercies” and “Driving Miss Daisy”, two of my favorite 80’s tearjerkers. Even just watching the trailer gives you that Beresford “feel”.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World
One for the kids. It’s a got a unique twist, playing like a video game. Either it’ll be so cool on screen, or it’ll get real annoying, real fast. I guess it’ll depend on how old you are. I don’t think I’ll watch it though, I just thought I’d post it, in case you’re into this type of movie.
Dinner For Schmucks
I have higher hopes for this than the Ferrell/Wahlberg film. I find the two leads infinitely more interesting, even though this too is a rehash of many other movies. Think of a male-buddy version of River Phoenix’s “Dogfight”.
Life During Wartime
If the rest of the movie is as funny as the trailer, I think I’ll enjoy this immensely. Director Todd Solondz has a history of shocking viewers with his dark satires like “Happiness”. This seems deceptively light, but I suspect a troubled current running underneath it. Can’t wait to see it!
