Monday Musing

I didn’t receive any death threats over the conference predictions so that’s always a good thing. I did have a couple of coaches reach out and say that they will prove me wrong, which I love to hear and sadly for me isn’t that difficult.

Less than 3 weeks to matches. Players are set to report in a week I assume. Maybe sooner for some.

I just finished another podcast so if you have the time check that out. All of the information is on my Podcast Page. The latest podcast covers the interesting ordering the New England RAC did with their rankings last year and what the other 7 regions can learn from it.

I think I’ve mentioned this before but I want to keep the podcasts more national in scope. I hope to have a national wrap-up that covers every region but that may just be a dream. I should be able to cover the Top 25, at least.

I’ve got the tournament data for the first three weeks done, I think. I’ll have a post out on this in 2 weeks. This basically shows where everyone is playing and I find it interesting to see what out-of-region teams we’ll be beating.

The AVCA will come out with their Top 25 on Wednesday so look for that. I’ll have a post criticizing their work assuming it doesn’t exactly match my Top 25. Again, I’d love for a coach to just match team-for-team what I did. Who’s going to be the first to show me that love?

The four conferences should be publishing their predictions soon. The ASC always comes out first and it may be as early as this week. Last year the other three conferences held back towards the end of the month.

I’ll be doing my Preseason All-Region team in a couple of weeks.

I’m still waiting on some important rosters to get published. I’ll probably have some posts out when they come out.

Looks like I’m missing the Southwestern Alumni match this year, which will be painful for me. My daughter is having a bachelorette party that weekend. My fault for not ensuring this wedding wouldn’t interfere with my volleyball prior to handing out my permission (I mean blessing).

I’m hopeful I’ll be at Southwestern for their tournament the first weekend and I should make some of the matches at UT-Dallas that second weekend. I will also be in Washington-St. Louis the third weekend for the East/West Challenge on that Friday. It’s so much easier updating the site when I’m at home but got to enjoy my volleyball. Remember if you are a reader and you need someone to lead cheers against an out-of-region team, I’m your guy.

OH!!!!! I’m hearing a name for the ASC RAC member to replace Sabrina Bingham who took over the RAC Chair position from Ed Garza. I just can’t confirm it.
