Moe’s Original Barbecue in Birmingham

Moe’s Original Barbecue in the Lakeview area of Birmingham, Alabama, has pretty good barbecue. They give a lot of meat along with chunks of average cornbread that have been grilled. The blackeye peas were pretty good but the skillet corn had never seen a skillet. The meat has smoke flavor and the sauce is ok. There are several branches of Moe’s Original in Birmingham and elsewhere. This one is on the grungy side, but they have a nice deck and it was a lovely day. The original Moe’s Original is in Vail, of all places, where three Alabama grads got together and brought culture to that BBQ backwater. We’ll be in Vail this summer to try the original Original.
