MILB Playoff Report 9/9/25

It’s time for Minor League Baseball to begin the playoffs. The Single- A and High-A level playoffs all start tonight. Let’s dive into the matchups.

Single-A

Florida State League

The St. Lucie Mets take on the Daytona Tortugas in the East division finals. St. Lucie won both halves and finished with the top record in the Florida State League.

The Lakeland Flying Tigers take on the Clearwater Threshers in the West division finals. The Flying Tigers took home the title in both halves of the season.

Carolina League

The Lynchburg Hillcats face the Fredericksburg Nationals in the North division. Lynchburg won the first half, while Fredericksburg won the second half.

The Columbia Fireflies face the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the South division finals. Columbia won the first half, while Myrtle Beach won the second half.

California League

The San Jose Giants take on the Fresno Grizzlies in the North Division finals. San Jose won the first half and Fresno took home the second half title.

The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes take on the Inland Empire 66ers in the South division finals. Rancho Cucamonga won the first half, while Inland Empire won the second half.

High-A

Northwest League

A Northwest League does things a bit different. They only have an eight-team league, so they don’t have divisions. They do still have a first and second half champion, that then plays in the League championship series. The Everett AquaSox will face the Eugene Emeralds in the best of five championship series starting tonight.

South Atlantic League

The Brooklyn Cyclones face the Greensboro Grasshoppers in the North Division finals. Brooklyn held off Greensboro by a game to win the first half title. Greensboro then clinched a playoff spot with a final day of the season win over Hudson Valley.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods play the Hub City Spartanburgers in the South division finals. Hub City is playing in their inaugural season as a Texas Rangers affiliated team this season and has clinched a playoff spot in their first season. Bowling Green won the first half to clinch their playoff spot.

Midwest League

The East division finals sees the West Michigan Whitecaps vs the Lake County Captains. The Whitecaps won both halves with a historic winning percentage.

The Cedar Rapids Kernel play the Beloit Sky Carp in the West division finals. Cedar Rapids won the first half, while Beloit won the second half.
