McMurry Coaching Change

I had written about another coaching change in Region X and then waited and waited until I forgot about it. That’s what happens when I’m trying to be nice and wait for the official announcement. Oh well.

Back on May 9th, McMurry announced that long-time coach Cammie Petree was retiring. Coach Petree had three different tenures at the school and finished with 484 victories. Her team also won the 2012 NCCAA National Championship while the schools was transitioning from DIII to DII. The school would later come back to DIII. She won numerous coaching of the year honors out of the ASC and is a member of the McMurry Athletic Hall of Honor.

Today, McMurry announced her replacement and it will be assistant, Caroline Cleveland. She was also an assistant back in 2014 and returned for the 2024 season. Caroline is a native of Abilene so the school made sure to go with someone both the city and volleyball program knew.

Congratulations to Coach Cleveland and thank you to Coach Petree for her incredible career and contributions to McMurry Volleyball.
