Marlo Schiffman Finds Way from Pittsburgh to East Lansing to Continue Tennis Career

Marlo Schiffman is a second-year tennis player for the Michigan State University (MSU) women’s tennis program and is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Upper St. Clair grad chose to become a Spartan because it provided her the opportunity to play Power 5, Division I tennis while also studying for a degree in Supply Chain Management.

“MSU has the number one supply chain program in the country, a superior campus, and an energetic camaraderie felt among the thousands of students,” said Schiffman. During her high school days, she was accepted into the Residential Business Community, a program which only grants 200 out of 1,800 students direct admittance into the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State. Additionally, she was voted by her graduating class as the most likely to be a future Olympian.

Taking advantage of her direct admittance into the Eli Broad College of Business, Schiffman is continuing on the path of Supply Chain Management while also being interested in Packaging and Graphic Design. While tennis and her studies at an elite business school keep her busy, she also volunteers at wheelchair adaptive sports through the university and enjoys painting, baking, reading, and sewing in her free time. So far in her career as a Spartan, she’s been named an Academic All Big Ten selection for her performance in the classroom as a first-year college student. In January 2022, Schiffman had her name called for her first college action in a doubles contest against DePaul University.

The next five semesters will be filled with exploring her passions, finding her niche, and of course plenty of tennis. Best of luck to you as you continue exploring your interests in business, tennis, and your personal life, Marlo. Thank you for the opportunity to showcase your journey to Big Ten tennis 🎾🧑🏻💼
