March Calendar Page Painting
It’s March and time to paint a fresh page in your watercolor calendar (or sketchbook!) This one is easy and inspired by Pablo Picasso, cubism, and his use of oil pastels. I’m not sure if my end page ended up achieving my goal of a cubist-inspired piece, but it is modern and it was a fun and bright painting for a cold winter’s day!

You can see my other calendar page tutorials here. To learn more about art history in a fun, easily digestible series, I recommend Sister Wendy’s Story of Painting Series on PBS, she is delightful!
Supplies: (affiliate links used but use any pastels you can dissolve in water for this!)
Other great options that are as good or better than what I used: Lyra Aquacolor or Caran d’Ache Neocolor 2
Let me know in the comments below if you are painting along in a watercolor calendar or sketchbook! Just think, by the end of the year you will have 12 paintings done. I think that’s pretty cool! Happy crafting!
