Malkin Reaches 800 Assists in Win over Red Wings
S. Samek
The Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin reached a milestone on Thursday night. He recorded his 800th career assist as the Penguins went on to defeat the Detroit Red Wings 6-3. Malkin had two assists in the contest.
Malking becomes the 34th player in NHL history to reach 800 assists and is the third active player to do so. Sidney Crosby and Patrick Kane are the other two active players to reach that mark. Both played in last night’s game with Crosby also contributing a pair of apples.
Malkin’s next milestone chase is 500 goals, which he needs two more to reach that total. Crosby is also chasing down 1,600 career points, also needing just a pair of points to reach that total.
Should be exciting to see them try and reach these milestones. Their next chance to do so is Saturday October 12th, 2024, at Toronto.
