Malignant (2021)

Director: James Wan
Starring: Annabelle Wallis, Maddie Hasson, George Young
Madison is paralyzed by shocking visions of grisly murders, and her torment worsens as she discovers that these waking dreams are in fact terrifying realities.
Every once in a while a movie comes along that completely blows me away. Going into ‘Malignant’ I didn’t know what to expect, but it certainly exceeded all my expectations!
After a freaky opening scene, the film introduces us to Madison (very well played by Annabelle Wallis). Being pregnant, we feel for her when her abusive husband hits her in the stomach. However, we soon discover this is only just the beginning of her nightmare. What follows, is a non-stop roller coaster ride of fear. James Wan manages to create fear in the simplest ways, and it is extremely effective and downright petrifying.
‘Malignant’ never allows the viewer a moment to catch his breath. It hits you with a constant sense of fear I haven’t experienced in a movie in a long time. (Some moments reminded me of ‘Lights Out’.) It is also very mysterious with a murder mystery element.
The film features a good script, good performances, good direction from James Wan, a good soundtrack, creepy visuals, great photography and editing, and good cinematography. The final act is nothing short of astonishing, with incredible visuals. The prison and police station scenes were absolutely amazing!!
‘Malignant’ is fast-paced and there’s always something happening. Bloody freaking hell, this movie game me the chills! This is a film I’m going to watch again and again.
Would I watch it again? Duh, absolutely!!
