Making Videos Better with Windows Live Movie Maker

Having decided that publishing a playlist from LongoMatch needed a much more polished feel, I decided to go back to Windows Movie Maker (WMM) to edit the video. Since my blog post on the subject (see link), things have changed slightly. Windows 7 does not have WMM. Instead, you can download a newer and improved version in Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM).
Windows Live Movie Maker

Once downloaded and installed (logo on the right), you can immediately see the modern Windows 7 look to it. Some improvements include not needing to convert videos into .avi files prior to editing. It accepted my .mp4 file. It has the nice function of uploading the video onto YouTube or Facebook straight away (although you have to log on to Windows Live first). Saving the video as a .wmv file worked perfectly. I remember the original Windows Movie Maker had a myriad of problems that resulted in problems with images or sound. All other basic editing functions are present.
End Product Below are two videos. The first is the video published from LongoMatch with the point-ending actions from Florence Preux. The second is the video published from LongoMatch also with Digs and Service Reception by myself. However, I edited the second video using WLMM. I do feel the second video is more entertaining.
So What? I think having title shots and music overlay is important when creating a “confidence-boosting” video or “psyching up” video. Also, although based on no evidence, publishing videos for players (on their request) can help build the trust between players and thevolleyballanalyst.
