MAJNOON – Dreams @ Maldives Islands (2023)

Majnoon is a genre-blending musical project founded by M. Kayhan Yakarlar, better known as KhaiKhan, the creator of Radio Istanbul (RIST) and Rist Records. The collective operates under the motto “Music Rising from the East”, aiming to translate their rich Eastern cultural heritage into contemporary soundscapes and reach a universal audience while preserving local roots.

Majnoon’s shows are entirely improvised, created in the moment alongside highly skilled musicians. This spontaneous approach infuses each performance with raw emotion and energy.

Their soundscape blends oriental, ethnic, and spiritual tones—incorporating instruments like ney (reed flute), duduk, clarinet, qanun, darbuka, balaban, saxophone, kabak kemane, cumbus, baglama, vocals, and more.
