Lord Flee- In the Name of Prodigy Review

As of late I’ve been revisiting alot of Mobb Deep’s catalog and while Prodigy whom has transitioned into a new universe is appreciated, Theres always a feeling that they are still overlooked by the masses. However the new era of grimy music coming from New York is definitely influenced by the Mobb Deep dark sound. This included Queens emcee Lord Flee.
Lord Flee has been making alot of noise in 2020 with his underground projects paying homage to not only the classic era that influenced him, but he’s also ready to carry on tradition to a new generation. Prodigy’s slang, rhyme pattern, and style is felt throughout and Flee anointed Havoc to produce this 10 track album paying homage to his fallin friend.
Havoc produces the entire project and the concept of the Project speaks for itself. To showcase the greatness of Prodigy and with this album, It not only showcased the influence the Queensbridge duo had on hip hop but it also proved that both Flee and Havoc have great chemistry.
The Intro was done in a perfect execution. Prodigy talking his sh*t with some of the classic Mobb deep tracks slowed down and mixed down. Then its followed by Torch Carriers which features Ransom. Both Flee and Ransom showcase great chemistry and they prove that they are hungry enough to carry the torch going into 2021.
People may complain about Flee not changing up his flow.. His style parallels perfectly with Havoc’s style and he brings a great energy . Him and Busta Rhymes beasted through Major Distribution which proves that Busta is on track for the best comeback of 2020. Raekwon also proves on Wu Lords that OG’s have more to say and that theres always gonna be a lane for legends.
The rest of the LP flows through fluidly with excerpts from Prodigy’s best interviews, soundbites, and alot of people whom he worked with in the past(Raekwon, Big Twins, Busta Rhymes,) But Flee has shown promise and that he’s not the type to let a star studded cast out rhyme him on his own project.. One of the best songs on the album titled 1 AM Music is Flee Lord at his best. Raising the Bar features Prodigy’s daughter Santana Fox rapping and it gives off a vibe of how P would rap on the song.
Overall this is a project thats gonna earn Mobb Deep a new era of fans and introduce Lord Flee as a serious contender going into 2021. This project still show that Queens still have pull behind this game and Havoc is possibly one of the best to ever do it.
