Director: Tobe Hooper

Starring: Steve Railsback, Mathilda May, Peter Firth

A race of space vampires arrives in London and infects the populace, beginning an apocalyptic descent into chaos.

Wow, ‘Lifeforce’ was incredible! This is definitely not what I expected – it was so much better!

From the good acting, to the incredible production design, visual and special effects, and prosthetics, this was amazing! ‘Lifeforce’ is a vampire movie with a difference, so don’t expect the normal vampire traits here. The film is fast-paced and exciting from the beginning. There literally never is a dull moment.

If you enjoy looking at naked women, you’ll be thrilled to know there’s a lot of female nudity here. In the context of the film, though, it is not offensive and very well done, believable and acceptable. This is definitely not for young kids, though.

‘Lifeforce’ boasts stunning make-up for a film made almost four decades ago. The action sequences are also very good. It was also interesting to see a young Patrick Stewart here. There was a scene with him in a wheelchair, and I swear, he looked just like we know him as Professor X in The X-Men! The film becomes a heart-pounding race against time to eliminate the space vampires, and the result is action, adventure, suspense and horror. I’m so impressed by this! This is one of the best 80s horror films.

‘Lifeforce’ was nominated for Best Horror Film, and won the Best Visual Effects award.

Would I watch it again? Definitely.
