Lets Stay Physical
Preserving the same level of juvenile excitement we all experienced in our respective adolescence when a new title is released, is a difficult emotion to reciprocate at a reasonably responsible age, where other commitments dictate your ever broadening culpability, which subsequently inflicts inevitable bouts of physical deterioration. Fatigue, as well as reduced time are some of the most prevalent reasons for the lack of technical attention that’s dismissed from busying lifestyles. But on the rare occasions that time and mental stability are in cosmic unison and afford the opportunity to purchase, as well as enjoy the succulent fruits of the laborious days of toil, to accumulate sufficient funds to purchase these enticing new *insert relevant popular series here*, are cursory moments of sanity from the otherwise madness of life. But it is staggering the number of individuals who would rather Download a game, rather than purchase a physical copy.
I’m not so stubbornly ignorant to dismiss the convenience and applications afforded from digital copies of games, and I totally understand the lethargic beneficial implications of simply clicking a button, for (almost) instant gratification, with only minor faculty pandering, from a whim and gesture of attainment. The overwhelming need to succumb to such simple inhibitions via such accessible inputs is an allurement few of us could resist, but such willful manipulations to satisfy your gaming compulsion, drastically weakens the increased sense of anticipation you would otherwise experience. It’s the self inflated anticipation, the sense of occasion that allows time to contrive in that warm little center that I refer to as “The Rockstar”, because satisfaction is imminently guaranteed. It’s the knowledge that delaying the acquisition of a game because you will have to wait (in) patiently for the shops to open, that makes the prolonged attainment all the more exhilarating, and its that measurable sense of indulgence you can’t competently equal with a download.
Until downloading games via the rather intrusive technological gaming store becomes compulsory, then I’m more than content with pacing into town in a feverish embrace, almost burdened by my masochistic tendency for encouraged paranoia and increased anxiety, that somehow every copy has already been miraculously purchased by some devious, malcontent individual, sneering maliciously as they begin burning an effigy of me grasping my desired title with a sick taste for human suffering. Because it’s in these dark torturous moments of tension that accompanies your walk/drive to your nearest convenience, that make the anticipating moment of deliverance, as well as the content of the game, exponentially more gratifying.
Do you still prefer physical copies? Or is downloading now your prefered method of acquiring console/PC games? Let me know your thoughts and feelings.
