Let’s Paint Big Ben (but make it Spooky!) Plus a review of New Watercolors!
Hi friends! I have a two-for-Thursday post for you today! What can I say, I’ve been a bit lax getting all of my YouTube videos posted to my blog. First we have a timelapse of my BigBen painting that I did during World Watercolor Month:

If you would like a real-time version of this tutorial you can find it up in Critique Club right now! For only $5 a month, you get access to over 100 real-time mixed media tutorials, creative monthly prompts, and the ability to upload 2 paintings a month for feedback from me. Learn more here.
Supplies: (affiliate links used)
I also have a review of the watercolors I used in the tutorial above. They are the newest offering from Paul Rubens, have a look!
These Paul Rubens Qiaomei Watercolors sold out as soon as they were available! Luckily I was sent a set to review and they are now back in stock (affiliate link)
Pros:
Price
Cute palette with a removable mixing area
Pigment and lightfast info included
Nice color selection
Cons:
Most colors are mixed pigments including the earth tones (and they could be mixed from others in the kit)
No Yellow ochre or raw seinna
Bottom line: These seem very similar to their Meilaing “Pretty Excellent” watercolor which is a better value, the only downside to the pretty excellent is that they do not have pigment info. The palette is cute and lightweight, I like it but I don’t think it is worth the extra $8 to get a set with 12 fewer colors but that is up to you. the paint is nice tho!
Well, I bet you are tired of hearing me talk! I hope you found these videos helpful and entertaining and til next time happy crafting!
