LEC to make Format Changes in 2025

The LEC will be making changes for next year. Let’s dive into what the new format will look like for LEC 2025.

The first spilt is the winter spilt. This will include a three-week round robin with best of one matches. After these the top eight teams advance to a double elimination playoff bracket. Both best of three and best of five series will take place in the playoffs. The fearless draft will also be implemented for the playoffs.

The winner of the playoffs wins an LEC title and advances to the new international event.

Spring will be a seven-week schedule with each team playing nine best of three series. The top six teams then make it to playoffs. These playoffs look to all be best of five and not include fearless draft. The winner earns and LEC title and a trip to MSI. The losing finalist also earns a spot at MSI.

Summer Split will start out with two groups of five teams. Each team will play four best of three matches. The top two teams from each group make playoffs, while the bottom two teams from each group are eliminated. The other four teams will play a team from the other group with the winners making the playoffs.

The playoffs for summer spilt are also double elimination with best of five matches. This will result in another LEC champion and the awarding of three spots for worlds.

The LEC season finals are out, as are qualifying by championship points. I can’t wait to see what the new format looks like next year!
