Late Summer 2023
That summer, as usual, went by in a blink. But we squeezed a lot in, and here’s a smattering of pictures to prove it.
First up – Pete and I got sucked up into the hype for Barbenheimer 2023, so we dutifully showed up opening weekend and spent the better part of a day at the movie theater. We saw Oppenheimer first, and Pete insisted we dress on theme.
I was super excited to see Oppenheimer because I always found him to be such a fascinating person, he was a passionate scientist who was both fully invested in his work but deeply pained by how it destroyed lives and the world at large.
The film was great. We had about an hour to blow until our Barbie showing, so we went to the lounge and did some googling about the Manhattan Project to give Pete some additional background.
Then: Barbie tiiiime!
Dressed to theme again, Pete dramatically whipped off his sweatshirt and sweats to reveal a Beach Ken theme, lol. My effort was just wearing a Barbie tank under my sweatshirt, and whipped out some themed sunnies.
Barbie was great too, but LORT it was a long day at the theater. It was dark when we left, oof. But I’d do it again, a ton of others at the theater did Barbenheimer too and it was a great atmosphere. I haven’t seen people that happy/excited at the movies in a long, long time.
Also this summer – Kemmeter trip was spent in Wisconsin this year, so we all descended upon Appleton (where my dad lived for a spell as a little kid) for several days.
It’s kinda wild because Appleton metro is decent sized (~300K poulation) but it has a very small town feel to it. We showed up late in the evening the first day, grabbed a bite to eat and then headed to our hotel.
We packed a lot into our days there, shopping and visiting with family and hitting up the EAA museum.
Even got to sit with the girlies as they got their ears pierced at a Claire’s.
I am sure by now you’re like… these are all phone photos. Well, I legit took several pictures with my camera but they are nowhere to be found so uh. I think I deleted them?? Or at the very least, dumped them into a folder on the cloud and never edited them. Whoops. This entire post is going to be phone photos is my point.
We also held Pete’s official birthday party, several weeks late. Better late than never, though. He invited his core group of friends on a bowling date.
And finally – I mean, I have a bunch of random photos at the city pool and bumming around town and eating fried smelt (mmmm, fried smelt) but the only other one really worth sharing is when Linus found my “family vacation stash” of goodies to take to Michigan this year, and he lovingly spread it out across my bed to appreciate the bounty. What a goof.
Okay that’s it for now, another one down.
Bye!
