Kent Seals the Deal at Illinois Classic
S. Samek
During the first two Tournaments of the PBA year, no top seed for the stepladder was able to win a title. Marshall Kent made that no longer the case, as the top seed took the one match he needed to win to take the title at the Illinois Classic.
Kent got the best of AJ Johnson in the finals 214-180 for his sixth career title. Yet it’s his first sense 2017.
Johnson was the three seed and took down Jake Peters and Sean Lavery-Spahr to reach the finals against Kent.
The next PBA event is the Pete Weber Missouri Classic this week. PBA Elite League rounds 5-6 will also be held this week on Tuesday, while the main event starts on Wednesday. It’s currently a four-team race at the top of the standings with 3-1 records. One team in that long jam is the Kingpins, which have Kent on the roster. Can he build on the momentum from winning the tournament to help his time out in the upcoming rounds? Say tuned.
