Keller Keeps Rolling in Win

Even with all the success and hype around Jared Jones and Paul Skenes this season for the Pittsburgh Pirates another pitcher is succeeding as well.

Mitch Keller is finding his groove this past month. Yesterday he pitched six innings and gave up one run while striking out eight batters in an 8-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The win was Keller’s seventh of the season and fifth in a row.

Keller is the first Pirates pitcher to win five in a row sense 2015 when J.A. Happ accomplished the feat.

It’s good to see Keller pitching well and providing some stability to the rotation. Even with it being a bit early to consider Keller is making a case to be an all-star again this season.

Combine that with Jones and Skenes and it’s giving the Pirates a very dangerous pitching core. Plus, with Bailey Falter exceeding expectations as well this season the rotation is looking to be a strength so far this season. It may be on the rotation to get them into the playoffs this season. Yet if they can keep it up watch out for return to the postseason.
