Just In Case You Missed It – July 14-25, 2020
Below is a list of articles, blogs or videos I “bookmarked” recently that are worth the investment of time. Enjoy!
“9 Things You Should Know About John Lewis” by Joe Carter (The Gospel Coalition).
“How Early Christianity was Mocked for Welcoming Women” by Michael J. Kruger. Next time someone says that Christianity is oppressive to women, share this article.
“More Pastors Agree with Andy Stanley: No Worship Services Until 2021” by Kate Shellnutt (Christianity Today). Not this pastor! This decision was not just motivated by COVID-19 but by a pragmatic form of church ministry that is not biblical.
“Seven Lessons for Productivity” by John Piper (Desiring God). Some great nuggets of practical help in this podcast as Piper reflects on 1,500 episodes of “Ask Pastor John.”
Finally, the church lost one of its profound voices – James Packer. The author of books like Knowing God and Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God has shaped countless numbers of Christians over a cross-section of multiple generations. And everyone seems to want to share a tribute about him. Here are some of the better ones.
“The Day I Was J.I. Packer’s Mailman” by Stephen McCaskell
“Don Carson Pays Tribute to J.I. Packer” by D.A. Carson
“An Interview with J.I. Packer” by Tom Ascol
“I. Packer (1926-2020)” by Justin Taylor
“I. Packer, ‘Knowing God’ Author, Dies at 93” by Leland Ryken
“The Life and Legacy of J.I. Packer” by Sam Storms
“Now He Knows God Face to Face: 4 Important Elements of J.I. Packer’s Legacy” by Owen Strachan
“Orthodoxy with Open Arms” by Mark Noll
“Reformation Theology in the Hands of a Servant” by John Piper
“Thank You, Lord, for J.I. Packer” by Carl Trueman
