Just a Quickie…

I mean.

I didn’t blog a thing in August, but I have a good excuse, I promise, and that is: August was a shit show. Every single weekend (and most weekdays) were booked solid. I had a (longer than expected) business trip to New York.

(Yes, that’s just a gif from Sex in The City, and for the record: the last time I went to NYC I was alone just kinda wandering the streets in my spare time with a coffee in hand and yet, yet: it was way more wild than this visit, go figure).

After I got back from the business trip it was a long weekend in Milwaukee for a family wedding.

And then few days later we left on a long, Long, LONG vacation: a roadtrip over two weeks that saw us through eight states. Then back home and trying to get back into the groove of daily life, a few days later a long weekend in Chicago…

And then back to school madness.

And then here we are. Both the kids are down for the count right now (yay, back to school GERMS), I am like WHAT DAY IS IT, NO, SERIOUSLY, and I remember that oh, yeah: I have a photo backlog of about 2,000 photos…

I am working on some blog posts to catch up but until then, enjoy the following sneak peek of our road trip. I initially started planning it with this nostalgic dream of driving across the great landscape of our country, staying in cheap old motels and eating in neon-lit diners and scampering across every weird little roadside attraction we came across.

Except, as time went on I worried about it actually living up to my expectations, what with bored kids and middle-aged back aches and motel bed bugs and crappy weather, etc. etc. etc. As it turns out: it was, indeed, just as lovely as I was hoping. Huh, who knew. We’re planning out next one already. Until then, enjoy.
