June 2009 Update

Jun 1, 2009
1 min read

Traditionally apple growers should see ‘a crop’ on Derby Day – 6th June. The recent warm temperatures have helped initial cell division within the fruitlets and this will determine fruit size at harvest -IF we see some meaningful rain in the meantime. Overall the fruits are mainly in ones and twos – quite light but best if the predicted dry summer comes about. Plums are showing and all the trees have been pruned during May. Cherries – not many to see at present. We are printing our mail order brochure now . If you would like one sent then please contact us.
