July Update
A new season is slowly beginning now.
First the not so good news, in that frosts during April and particularly early morning of 16th May, have depleted apple prospects seriously. But, if you like Discovery and/or Worcester Pearmain then there should be some later.
At the moment we are picking the round French Beans and pulling carrots from the Dutch Light greenhouse from where the tomatoes will come – eventually!
From outside we have raspberries and some Tayberries. They are not grown under plastic – just out in the fresh air which means they get a lot more flavour, however it also means that when they are wet from rain the picking is interrupted
.
Also the broad beans are just beginning and we may have a few onions in a few weeks time.
There are some plums to come later on . The quality of all the tree fruit will be scruffier than usual following the cold and wet conditions.
This year no chemicals have been/will be used on anything. We are using no-dig beds in our Greenhouse and we are also turning a section of our orchard into an Agroforesty/Forest Garden plot (to find out more click on the diploma links on the right).
If you live in our area we may be able to deliver to you on a Friday afternoon. To inquire please Telephone us on 01206 212375 or e mail us at andrew.tann1@virgin.net
Please remember that contacting on Friday morning is too late!!
