Journey Thompson is a senior at Peters Township High School and is committed to continuing her college basketball career for the Arizona State University Sun Devils women’s basketball team. Originally a Delaware Blue Hens women’s basketball commit, Thompson is excited to become a part of a program she identifies as a “family-like” environment and play for a coaching staff she connects with, while living and being a part of a beautiful campus.

An aspiring veterinarian, heading to Arizona State will allow her to player Power 5 hoops while also striving to one day become a vet. Prior to becoming a vet, she’s hopeful to play the game of basketball professionally.

Thomson was a part of an undefeated, state championship team as a freshman at Peters Township, helping the team to win a state championship in 2019. Overall, that team went 30-0 in route to a section, WPIAL, and state championship.

As the years have gone on, Thompson has been named a Big 56 Conference 6A First-Team performer, a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Athlete of the Week, an Elite 8 PA Top Girls Power Forward PA, surpassed 1,000 career points, was named a Future Stars Elite 8 selection, was a Miss PA Basketball Nominee, and made it to the Elite 8 in nationals in AAU.

Playing for the Western PA Bruins, Thompson played a national schedule and made bonds with a great collection of college level talent over the years. She had this to say about the impact the Bruins had on her.

“The Bruins definitely had a big role in my development. They gave me the opportunity to play with the best 2022 players in the WPIAL and play against some of the best players in the nation. The fact that I had to push myself to play at that level of the other girls on my team definitely improved my skills and mindset.”

Best of luck in your final weeks of high school and in your preparation for college, Journey! Thank you for the chance to share your commitment and future plans in basketball and medicine 🏀👩🏾‍⚕️
