When you talk Pittsburgh Pirates pitchers, the first thing that comes to mind is probably why isn’t Paul Skenes in Pittsburgh yet? While Skenes has gotten his fair share of media attention, fans are overlooking another top prospect this season.

Though he may not be a prospect for long if he keeps pitching like this. Jared Jones, the number three prospect for the Pittsburgh Pirates is showcasing great stuff this season. He is a rookie and has prospect status still but should be losing that soon with enough time in the big leagues.

In fact, he just set a mark as one of only two Pirates pitchers’ sense 1893 to start his career with seven plus strikeouts in three straight appearances. His most recent start he went five innings giving up no runs on one hit while striking out seven in a no decision against the Mets on Tuesday Aril 16th, 2024. He was also recently named one of the 10 rookies to have the best start to the season by MLB.com.

So not only is he making headlines in Pittsburgh, but the whole league. Nice to see him get some well-deserved recognition.
