Jones Makes Pirates Opening Day Roster

S. Samek

Jared Jones is making the Pittsburgh Pirates opening day roster this year.

Jones is rated as the Pirates number three prospect. He pitched at double-a and triple-a last year, starting 25 games between both levels.

He threw 16 1/3 inning this spring without allowing an earned run on his way to making the team.

I would say he is going into the starting rotation, at least for the time being a the fourth, or fifth starter as he gets acclimated to the league.
