Johnson Named Top Prospect at Position for Pittsburgh Pirates

Paul Skenes seems to get all the headlines when talking about Pittsburgh Pirates prospects, however another prospect is making headlines. Termarr Johnson was named the top second base prospect by MLB Pipeline. Johnson was also awarded the best fielding tool as well as the superlative for highest ceiling.

Johnson is currently ranked as the number two prospect in the Pirates Organization behind Skenes. His estimated arrival date to the major leagues is 2025. He played at both the A and A plus levels last season. With only 30 games at that level I could see him sent back there for maybe half a season and then if successful a call to Double A. I could also see Johnson get pushed up to Double A right off the bat in 2024 to speed up the development. Regardless he should be fun to watch in 2024 as a top prospect.
