January 2025 Deals at Costco
Another month, another set of savings at Costco. As I have done in the past (December Deals at Costco; (November Food Deals at Costco); (More November Food Deals at Costco); (Costco Deals for October)), I have combined some recommendations from the book and added a few others to highlight some items. These current deals are good from December 26, 2024 through January 20, 2025
When mentioned by more than one person, I note that.
1. Skippy or Jif Peanut Butter ($3.30 off; mentioned by multiple people)
Costco sells this beloved spread in packages containing two 48-ounce jars of peanut butter. Members have their choice of Skippy or Jif and of creamy and chunky.
I love peanut butter and view it as a must-have in the house. How, I prefer natural peanut butter and buy the Kirkland variety (Product Review:Kirkland organic creamy peanut butter). However, I know that many people prefer the sweeter versions and like the convenience of not having to refrigerate the peanut butter after opening. I don’t know the difference between the two brands but I do know that people tend to be pretty loyal to particular brands. I like that members have the choice between creamy and crunchy as I know people have strong preferences. I like both and actually would like a combination pack with one jar of each.
2. Clif Energy Bars ($7 off; mentioned by multiple people)
Sold in variety-pack (crunchy peanut butter; chocolate chip) boxes of 26 bars, these bars contain a good amount of protein.
I have never had a Clif Bar. I have mentioned before that I am not a big fan of protein bars, as I still associate them with the sticky Power Bars from when I was younger. These bars sound pretty good and the flavors are appealing. However, I don’t have much need for protein bars. For those who eat them, this is a very good deal. With the discount, each bar is slightly over 60¢ vs $2-3 for a single bar in a store.
3. Chobani Less Sugar Greek Yogurt ($5.50 off; mentioned by more than one person)
A healthy snack on sale in January is yogurt. The 16-count variety pack (Ripe Strawberry; Madagascar Vanilla & Cinnamon; Harvest Raspberry; Wild Blueberry) is an option for a convenient snack with low sugar and high protein.
These yogurts are on sale a lot, so I have written about them before (Costco Deals for August).
4. Sensible Portions’ Sea Salt Garden Veggie Straws ($5 off)
Another snack sold in individual servings are these veggie straws. They are sold in boxes containing 42 bags.
I have never eaten these crunchy snacks, despite others in my family buying the big bags in multiple occasions. They look good but I am not a huge fan of crunchy chip-based snacks. I’d prefer to eat real vegetables. If kids would eat them, they are a healthier alternative to many other chips, especially if eaten with hummus or another nutritious dip.
5. Snack Factory Organic Pretzel Crisps ($3.80 off)
Another chip variety on sale at Costco in January is pretzels. These organic crisps are sold in 28-ounce bags.
Although I don’t eat them often, I do like pretzels, especially when dipped in hummus. They are a good item to have in the house.
6. Frito-Lay Select Mix ($5 off)
An alternative to the individual packages of vegetable straws is this variety pack (Sour Cream & Onion Lays; Spicy Nacho Doritos; Cheetos Puffs; Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles; Chili Cheese Fritos; Funyuns) of chips. Each box contains 30 bags.
Costco seems to have a variety of these chips boxes on sale most months (Costco Deals for June/July); (More Costco Deals for August);(Costco Deals for October);( December Deals at Costco)). They always seem to be a slightly different combination of chips, and each time there are a few of which I’ve never heard.
7. Ling Ling Chicken & Vegetable Potstickers ($4 off)
A frozen appetizer that members can buy on sale this January are these potstickers. The 4.2-ounce bags contain chicken and vegetable dumplings and a dipping sauce. The potstickers can be cooked in the air fryer, boiling water, or the microwave.
These potstickers are not for me but I have heard they are pretty good for a frozen dumpling. They are a convenient option for an appetizer/part of a meal.
8. Garden Lites Veggies Made Great Spinach Egg White Frittatas ($4.10 off; mentioned by more than one person)
Costco is offering this frozen, protein-packed breakfast option at a discount in January. Each box contains 20 mini frittatas made with spinach, red bell peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, and egg whites. They can be prepared in the toaster, oven, or microwave .
I was very disappointed when this company switched kosher certifying agencies several years ago. I stopped eating the products and still miss some of them. I actually started eating them when Costco started selling individual frozen vegetables souffles. Then, when Costco discontinued them (like so many of my favorite items (It’s Gone? Discontinued Products), I started buying them in grocery stores. They were expensive but very good. I imagine these frittatas are also very good.
9. Beyond Burger Plant-Based Patties ($4.50 off; mentioned by more than one person)
A discount is provided on this protein–packed alternative to meat burgers. The quarter-pound burgers are plant-based, protein-packed, and sold in bags of ten individual patties. According to the article, they taste as good as real meat and can be used in pasta or salads, in addition to eaten a traditional burgers.
I have never had the plant-based burgers (I once tried a Boca burger but that was way before the advances in fake meat). I have heard good things about the newer plant-based burgers but am not interested. I do eat meat, albeit rarely, so I would just have real meat if I wanted a burger. For my veggie burgers, I’d rather ones that contain and taste like vegetables. Unfortunately, my two favorite veggie burgers brands have since reduced their offerings (Dr. Praeger’s) or gone out of business (Hilary’s).
10. Dunkin’ Medium Roast ($6.40 off)
Costco saves members the trip to the popular coffee chain by selling the coffee on discount. The coffee is the Original Blend Medium Roast Ground Coffee. The 45-ounce containers brew up to 150 six-fluid ounce cups of coffee.
Coffee is another item that always seems to be on same at Costco (Costco Deals in March 2024); (Additional May Deals at Costco)). I don’t drink coffee but other family members have bought this item when on sale in the past.
11. Kirkland Signature Organic K-Cup Pods ($6 off)
Another coffee option on sale in January are the Kirkland K-cups. The variety pack (Pacific Bold; Breakfast Blend; Summit Roast) contains 120 pods.
These K cups also tend to be on sale a lot (Additional May Deals at Costco).
12. Starbucks Caffè Verona Dark Roast ($6 off)
A third coffee product on sale in January is the Starbucks’ Caffè Verona Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee. Apparently, the 50-ounce packages of coffee taste of dark cocoa and caramelized sugar.
Even more coffee!
13. Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides ($6 off)
This health product is sold in two varieties (24-ounce unflavored; 32-ounce chocolate). The peptides are beneficial for improving the health of hair, skin, nail and joints. The mix can be added to coffee, smoothies, or baked goods
These are not kosher but the health benefits sound great.
14. Brita Pitcher Filters ($12.50)
Members looking to drink puree water without using plastic water bottles have a choice of a box of 10 filters or a new pitcher and pack of two filters.
Although I grew up in a town with perfectly fine water, we used to use a Brita filter. I always liked the idea of it and felt like my water was”cleaner.” I am not sure why we stopped using it but I now just drink tap water (different town but also safe water) if I am home. Peta it is healthier to filter it but I don’t worry about it.
15. San Pellegrino Sparkling Mineral Water ($5.50 off)
This water is sold in packs of 24 16.9-ounce bottles.
This water is another item that is frequent featured in the coupon book (November Food Deals at Costco).
16. Good Foods or Wholly Avocado Organic Avocado Mash ($4 off)
Another item being sold at a discount in January are these avocado-based dips. Members can select either Good Foods or Wholly Avocado organic avocado mash. The boxes contain 16 2-ounce containers of the spread.
I have had both of these brands of guacamole (including Good Foods from Costco (Product Review: Good Foods Chunky Guacamole). I don’t know the difference between guacamole and avocado mash. I do like guacamole and would try avocado mash but not in these containers due to my quirky dislike of certain types of packaging.
17. Orgain Organic Kids Nutritional Protein Shake ($9 off)
The January coupon book contains several Organic products. One is this nutrition drink designed for children. It contains protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals, and is GMO, gluten, and soy free. Costco carries the chocolate flavor in 24 eight-ounce bottles.
A few years ago, I was looking for a less sweet version of a nutrition/protein drink to have a convenient source of extra nutrients. I actually started drinking a kids’ variety of a delicious drink (Kindersprout) in both vanilla and chocolate. Unfortunately, like so many of my other favorite items, it was discontinued (I really do seem to be a reverse indicator!). I saw that Costco sold the Orgain kids’ drinks and decided to try a smaller pack at a store before buying the big box at Costco. I am glad I didn’t buy the big box because the vanilla one i tried was definitely not for me. It gets good reviews so it is probably a good item for many and definitely healthier than other drinks but I will not be buying it. I am not entirely sure that the drink i tried is the same as the one Costco sells, as there seem to be a wide variety of these drinks with very similar nutrition statistics (the website is overwhelming). However, I will not be trying them again. Although the chocolate variety that Costco sells may be better than the vanilla, it was really the this texture that bothered me. I am more interested in my chocolate protein milk (Product Review: Fairlife Nutrition Plan Chocolate Milk) and in trying he new Koia drinks (New Costco Items for December 2025: A Random Assortment).
18. Orgain Protein & Superfoods Protein Powder
A second Orgain item in the book is this powder. The containers are 2.7 pounds and the organic vanilla powder contains protein, superfoods, probiotics, and fiber.
I imagine that this powder might be a better alternative for me because I can add it to a thicker liquid and not be as bothered by the thin texture. I have never tried a protein powder but it is something to consider.
19.Orgain 30g Milk Protein Shake ($6.50 off)
The third Orgain product in the coupon book is this protein milk that comes in the Chocolate Fudge flavor. It is sold in packages of 28 11-ounce containers and contains only one gram of sugar and no soy or artificial sweeteners.
The flavor sounds good but, given how much I enjoy the Fairlife protein milk, I will stick with that (Product Review: Fairlife Nutrition Plan Chocolate Milk).
20. Pure Protein Bars ($7 off)
Another health-related item on sale in January these protein bars. The 23-count variety pack (Chocolate Peanut Butter; Chocolate Deluxe; Chewy Chocolate Chip) contains bars that are high in protein and gluten free.
As with the Clif Bars, I like the flavors but am not a fan of most protein bars.
Will you be buying any of these products in January? Any others in the coupon book in which you are interested?
