Jackson Juzang Heading to Haverford to Play for Fords Hoops Program

Jackson Juzang is one of the WPIAL and the state of Pennsylvania’s most electric hoopers in the class of 2022. The Winchester Thurston Bears standout was named First-Team All-State in 2021 and is a shoe-in to be picked for this honor once again for his senior year.
A native of Pittsburgh, Juzang has lived up to his Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Fab Five selection as he has averaged 27.4 points, 10.3 boards, 7.4 assists, and 4.8 steals per game in the 2021-22 campaign He also helped his team reach the PIAA state playoffs in 2022 after the programs win over Carmichaels to clinch a spot in states. Though basketball is unquestionably something he loves, there’s much more about Juzang than playing the game of basketball.
His education is important to him; citing this as a reason why he elected to go to a Division III program. He has a strong interest in music, naming jazz musician and pianist, Ahmad Jamal, as his favorite artist. He also has an interest in writing and politics, interests he may just combine one day to become a political journalist. However, these are goals far down the line.
Instead, he’s focusing on finishing his senior year of high school strong, getting ready to play Division III hoops at Haverford College, and working on his game in order to one day become a professional hooper.
When asking Juzang what stood out to him about playing at Haverford, he had this to say.
“The coaching staff runs with a playing style similar to mine, and their knowledge of the game drew my attention over other schools. Haverford as a school and community seemed like an easy transition from my high school to college which made this an easy decision.”
While he had offers at all three levels of the NCAA, Juzang decided competing in the Centennial Conference, one of the best in Division III men’s basketball, would allow him to have the high academic prestige complimented by elite basketball that he was looking for. Juzang played on the AAU circuit with King Hoops NYC (Brooklyn) and locally for the Pittsburgh Buckets as a part of his high school coach Justin Walther’s program that started in February of 2016.

One of his favorite memories from high school basketball was seeing his teammate Jack Anderson-Jussen have a solid game against Carmichaels to help lead the team to a win in WPIAL’s and clinch the berth in states this season. Now, Juzang will get ready to join the Haverford Fords, a program coming off of a season in which they went 13-12. His ability to score the ball will hopefully make an immediate impact for Haverford as his days in basketball are still only getting started. Best of luck in your preparation for college, Jackson! Thank you for the chance to share your success and commitment 🏀
