It’s Been a While…
Hey readers! I am soooo sorry for my prolonged absence! I plan on rectifying that today! I spent the better part of the last year putting together my thesis. But now I live in Texas, and on a BBQ mission. Coming up this week- I’m going to be writing up a review of Fargo’s Pit BBQ in Bryan, TX, as well as two movie reviews, IT and mother! Finally throughout October I will be writing reviews of Haunted Attractions that I will be visiting.
It’s an exciting time for me right now! Until next time here’s some delicious Cue Porn courtesy of the Butcher BBQ Stand in Wellstone, OK-

If you live in OK or just passing through on I35, this place is worth the stop. Go with friends, and get the Meat Locker and add Burnt Ends.

My ribs were a bit overcooked with an odd combination of sweet and salty that weren’t quite balanced. The sauce is also a little sweet for my taste. But the Brisket and Burnt Ends are some of the best in the state, and pulled pork might be juiciest I’ve ever had (not including the stuff my wife makes). They don’t need sauce anyways, which is always a good sign of competent and delicious BBQ.

The rub for the beef was simple, with a the right ratio of salt and heat, and the burnt ends had a fantastic bark. What’s more, this joint breaks the mold of the usual OK joint, and has some pretty good sausages, (actually spicy) hot links, and even (moist!) turkey. The chicken is interesting in that they cube it, but the smoke doesn’t really get a chance to penetrate the breast. As far as sides go, you won’t find a more unique side than their apple pie baked beans. They are sweet, savory, and have the right amount of spice.

My scores for the individual pieces are as follows- Burnt Ends- 8.5 Brisket- 8 Pulled Pork- 7.5 Hot Link- 7 Smoked Sausage- 7 Turkey- 7 Ribs- 6.5 Chicken- 6.5 Sauce- 6.0 Apple Pie Beans- 8 Potato Salad- 7 Mac and Cheese- 6.5
My overall score is a 7.5. It’s really solid place that offers an assortment of meats, sides, and sandwiches. If I return, I will be getting one the latter, preferably one with burnt ends. The atmosphere- part biker stop part foodie hangout is also pretty great, and the folks at the counter couldn’t be nicer.
