Inferno (1980)

Director: Dario Argento
Starring: Leigh McCloskey, Irene Miracle, Eleonora Giorgi
An American college student in Rome and his sister in New York investigate a series of killings in both locations where their resident addresses are the domain of two covens of witches.
Ok, I’ve tried. I’m officially not a Dario Argento fan. I don’t like his style. It is an acquired taste and I’m afraid his directing does not appeal to me.
Having read a book about The Three Mothers who hid three keys, Rose becomes obsessed with finding out whether it is just a story, or fact, and follows the clues in the book. I didn’t find the movie interesting at all. The characters find themselves in the strangest of places, almost like a nightmare – only it’s not. The film has a very strange production design.
The film’s score was also overbearing. As the film with its unusual storyline progressed, I eventually found myself lost with the characters and premise. Simply put: it was boring.
One thing I admired about the film, was the use of color – mainly deep red and blue. This use of color translated beautifully on screen and I can commend the director for this.
Would I watch it again? No.
