Impossible Engineering

If I could pick my college major all over again, I would have gone the engineering path instead of Marketing (thinking Structural or Civil).  I absolutely love the show Impossible Engineering on the SCI channel.  Virtually every episode leaves me slack jawed and giddy.  Here’s a few of my favorite episodes.

In Chernobyl, a race against time and a failing reactor, this episode details how a large building/container was built and slid over the melted down reactor. Another shows the Hyper Loop in action.  Just think – 1 hour to travel from SF to LA or 28 minutes to go from NYC to DC in an underground tunnel (vacuum) at speeds approaching 1000mph.  If you have ever dealt with Bay area or Beltway traffic – this is a game changer.

Another episode shows the building of the US Navy’s new Ford-class aircraft carrier using the latest technology on the world’s largest warship for this cutting-edge vessel. And for only $13B each (put it on the Underhill’s tab)…

The Chrysler Building is an iconic Art Deco skyscraper in New York City built in 1930. It is currently the second tallest building in New York City second to the Empire State Building.  The top of the building’s exterior is one of the very first uses of Stainless Steel and is still

in great shape.

Fastest-Roller-Coaster-in-the-World

Yet another great episode explains what’s involved with building the world’s fasted roller coaster

and how they keep the riders safe.  There are many great train (city, fastest, tallest) shows and yet another fun show that takes you inside a Tesla factory which takes automation to a new level.

If I don’t have your attention by now, I’m certain that episodes about the world’s most powerful Dam, longest tunnel, tallest bride, and a rocket to Mars probably isn’t your cup of tea either.  If your curious, check it out here https://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/impossible-engineering/.  There are 47 shows over 6 seasons.  Sensational!
