Ila R Da Sandman- Da Silvabakk of Rap 2 Review

2020 has been testing year. But in the terms of hip hop, This may be one of the most memorable. We’ve been hit with many stellar albums from both Mainstream and Underground artists. Ila R Da Sandman whom is not only a co host of mine but a dope artist in its own came through with Da Silvabakk of Rap 2. The first single MATANZA!!! is that of action packed and production wise very cinematic. Sandman’s Flow is more ferocious and focused than ever before. The way he’s approaching tracks, He’s approaching it as if he’s a prize fighter and ready to knock out all opposition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCl–Wi09wIThats That Sh*t and Acid Rain has Sandman attacking in a mixtape format. Acid Rain is a standout where he cleverly flips Talib Kweli’s classic The Blast. Psychosis is another standout featuring West Coast emcee Laron Pierce which pays homage to the legendary luchadores wrestler in Griselda fashion

My personal favorite track of the album is Bills which is a track that can definitely hit home with anybody thats a tax paying citizen going through it at the moment. Here Sandman takes a clever flip of Gangstarr’s Classic “Skills” and flipped the choruses to “Bills”. This could very well be a anthem for 2020 considering what’s been happening this year.

Whats impressive about Sandman’s projects is how he creates a theme for his projects and follows through with them. Plus he’s not afraid to show his personality.. He’s a big fan of video games as you can hear with Dhalsim, Pro Wrestling with Psychosis and that he’s just a fan of the sport of hip hop. Whats also dope about Sandman’s verse is he takes the track to a different element to break down different sicknesses. Overall Definitely check this project out and rep the underground!
