iCrayon Watercolor crayon review (watersoluble wax pastels)
Hi friends! Today I am reviewing the Icrayon water-soluble wax pastels, both the classic and Europe colors. I purchased these in January 2025.
The ICrayon water-soluble wax pastels are very similar to the Neocolor 2 crayons that you can find at Blick in both open stock and set or Amazon in sets. Another comparable brand is Lyra, available at Blick or Amazon in sets. *I think the Lyra is the best value currently 2/5/25. Instead of using the included waterbrush, I recommend small, golden taklon brushes like Zen All Media. *Affiliate links used in this post.
Pros of the ICrayon Watercolor Crayons/water-soluble wax pastels:
Soft and easy laydown
Beautiful storage tin
Nice color assortment
Price
Comes with a nice sharpener and a useful palette. (the waterbrush is OK but not very useful for this product, see brush recommendation above.)
Cons:
Not as water-soluble as other crayon products like the Neocolor 2s or Lyra Aquacolor.
Pastels are not available open stock
No lightfast info
Bottom line: I really like these but I like to use them mostly dry with only a tiny bit of water for blending. If that’s how you work you will like them. If you want a watercolor look go for another brand.
