You become brave by taking brave actions.   Thoughts negative or positive don’t define you.  We all have doubts, fear, and procrastination including all of the successful people who have come before.  It’s as simple as putting one foot in front of the other.  When you can focus your attention as the task at hand you get in the zone.  This is true for work, sports, and your social life.   Challenge your thoughts with actions.  Act in your best interest rather than how you think and feel.  This is learning.  “Action greases the wheel of life.  Inaction breeds doubt and fear.  Action breeds confidence and courage.”  Gary John Bishop.  When we act, we just don’t have time for anything else.  It’s hard to worry when your getting things done.  Keep on rolling.  Don’t act on your thoughts.  Act on what’s in front of you.  Remember, you only remember other people’s actions.  Be positive and act.  Action may not bring happiness but there is no happiness without action.  You may be the smartest person in the world but that doesn’t mean a thing unless you take action.  Take the first step, then the second, and keep on going.

I really enjoyed Satya Nadella’s opening keynote yesterday at Microsoft Ignite in Orlando.  It was filled with some great concepts and announcements – here’s two highlights.  The first is Azure Synapse System which is an exciting analytics service combining structured and unstructured data.  Essentially it brings together Enterprise Data Warehousing and Big Data.

Next, he talked about how to democratize Artificial Intelligence (AI), to make it accessible for all.  He points out that every walk of life has changed because of our ability to create knowledge and distribute knowledge.  Here are his four points:

  • We’re going to harness artificial intelligence to fundamentally change how we interact with the ambient computing, the agents, in our lives.

  • We’re going to infuse every application that we interact with, on any device, at any point in time, with intelligence.

  • We’ll make these same intelligent capabilities that are infused in our own apps — the cognitive capabilities — available to every application developer in the world.

  • We’re building the world’s most powerful AI supercomputer and making it available to anyone, via the cloud, to enable all to harness its power and tackle AI challenges, large and small.
