How-To: Make an embossed transparency
Howdy! Did you see Jen McGuire’s article on transparencies in CK this month? Well she showed some embossed and they looked so cool so here is how to do it! You can use a stylus and a texture plate, brass or plastic stencil. Simply lay the transparencies on top and “draw” over the design with the stylus. Beware that the transparencies are slippery and you will need to go over it a few times to get a crisp image. But if you have a manual die cut machine you can use an embossing folder (like I did for this card) or use a brass stencil and a squishy mat (like a sheet of rubber gasket material found in the plumbing section of a hardware store), just place the transparency between the stencil and the mat and cranker through the machine, easy peasy. Also if you get some of that rubber gasket material you can hand or diecut you own custom rubber stamps out of it too! You can also make “ghost shapes” buy using your die cut machine to cut transparencys. You can even do it with a Cricut but it will toast your blade so keep an old one to just use with transparencies. If you want to stamp on the transparencies you can with acrylic paint or Staz-On ink.
