How About Reading Through the Bible in 2021?

Have you ever read the Bible through in 1 year? It’s not as daunting as it seems. Only 3 chapters per day and 5 chapters on Sunday will get you there.

My parents got me reading through the Bible every year as a young Christian, and I haven’t turned back since.

Reading through the Bible in a year will allow you to see the narrative of all of Scripture, with its themes and “stories.” It helps you see the whole of redemptive history, as God recorded and unveiled it.

Reading through the Bible in a year allows you to tangibly express to God that all of Scripture is inspired and profitable for you (II Timothy 3:16-17).

Reading through the Bible in a year will enhance your ability to understand verses in their context and interpret Scripture more faithfully. And when that happens, your confidence for interpreting Scripture will increase.

Reading through the Bible in a year is a great way to discipline yourself to read the Bible on a regular basis.

Reading through the Bible in a year will keep you from the temptation of skipping difficult sections of Scripture and press towards depending your study in those passages. You get to go to places you rarely go, and those places are more instructive than you realize.

Reading through the Bible in a year follows the orderly God who revealed Himself in a certain way to us. He didn’t intend for you and I to know Him by reading a verse in that Testament and then another verse tomorrow in another Testament. He gave us books and sequential texts.

What would keep you from reading through the Bible in 2021?

I have an idea that will help.

I am creating a Facebook Group for reading through the Bible in a year. This group is for WBC (and friends) Facebook users who would like to read through the Bible in 2021. We will read the same passages every day. I will post questions for discussion and so can you. We will share resources that enable us to better understand what we are reading.

If you would like to be part of this Facebook group, let me know and I will add you.
