Hexapus!

The Blackpool Sea Life Centre in England found what looks like a six-legged octopus. Of course it would be incorrect to say that because “octopus” literally means, “eight-legged”. So it has been christened, a “hexapus”, or “six-legged”. They also named the first ever hexapus, “Henry”. What makes Henry extra special than your everyday “freak of nature”, is that he is the first ever known example of a hexapus, EVER. No aquarium, no nothing has ever reported of this kind of a creature in recorded history. Octopuses have been known to have three hearts and blue blood but never six legs. They had to take the above photo VERY carefully since flash photography has been known to be fatal to octopuses. I swear, we’re destroying the planet faster than it can reveal to us it’s vast unknown riches. It would be a shame for the human race for new species (well, at least to us) to go extinct without even being discovered.
By the way, speaking of the ocean’s riches, our very own Tubbataha Reef is currently number 31 in the tally for the search for the New 7 Wonders of Nature. Voting for nominees will go on until December 31, 2008, so we still have a lot of time. But just in case you’re bored while on the net, you might want to cast a vote or two, since it’s really just a popularity contest anyway. Click here if you want to vote.
So now you know about the hexapus. But have you seen an octopussy?

No, not the James Bond movie…

Ta-daaah, octopussy!
