Helping Kids To Game This Christmas Is “Child’s Play”.

Christmas is a time for giving, sharing, for inviting loved ones into your domicile and sprawl in the traditional yuletide festivities. Rather than discuss the excesses of gluttonous consumption or the usual pagentries associated with the holiday period and instead look at how less fortunate individuals lives could be improved by something we take for granted; gaming. For some children the joys of Christmas are significantly diminished by enduring illness that has prevented them from spending valuable time with their families. Time isolated in hospitals can be excruciatingly tedious, as doctors perform a series of diagnostic appraisals and take blood samples to determine the proper medication or indeed discuss whether more invasive procedures will need to be conducted to cure or ease your respective maladies. I’ve only experienced a brief tenancy hospitalised which was tortuous enough. I was also a frequent visitor when my girlfriend was going through an extended labour, so we understand just how tenuous the time can be. Inactivity breeds boredom and when you’re confined to a bed unable to do anything other than change channels on a television that only receives 5 broadcasts – if you’re lucky enough to even have a TV – then life can seem considerably miserable, particularly if you’re a child. That’s why Child’s Play, a children’s charity that has helped generate over $40 million in donations has launched their festive campaign to help disadvantaged children, by devoting their time and resources to help hospitalised children or those living in sheltered accommodation, due to domestic abuse and provide the much needed joy they deserve with games and toys to enhance their time. Curing disease and finding suitable accommodation is the main priority, of course it is. But having the ability to harness just a little bit of joy during such traumatic times is almost as important. Sadly, due to my inability to check my emails on a regular basis the charity auction promoted by Child’s Play has already past, but it’s still not too late to help these children by donating or launching your own fund raising event. So if you can donate (details are below), as all contributions would be greatly appreciated. If you don’t then thanks reading and have a very Merry Christmas! Cheers.
