Rick Famuyiwa, the writer and director of ” and , is teaming up with Pharrell, P Diddy and Forest Whitaker to bring you . If you haven’t seen the trailer for it, we highly suggest you do. With ASAP Rocky sitting on the trunk of a green convertible as the opening scene, how can this movie not be cool as hell?

It made its debut at Sundance this year and after 6 offers from different studios it reportedly got 27 million from Open Road Films and Sony for the rights to distribute it internationally. It’s about a group of friends who have to work together to get out of some trouble after getting mixed up with the wrong people after a wild party. So basically your usual teenage angst coming of age story where the geek ends up with the hottie, like or . But , a British daily newspaper, said the cast is “revolutionary” and then gave it five stars so you have to think about how big this movie’s actually going to be.

This movie’s got quite a line up. They have A$AP Rocky, Tyga, Vince Staples, Casey Veggies, Kap G, Zoe Kravitz, Forest Whitaker narrating, and Blake Anderson (the dude with the long bushy hair on ). The characters are witty and give us a new school feel behind an old school back drop. The cinematography is beautiful as Famuyiwa grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, an environment that greatly influenced his style as an artist. The trailer itself is visually striking.

You have gurus of popular culture, Pharrell and Mr. Sean Combs, producing the movie so you know it’s about to be a hit. It’s the racially diverse, hipster-hypebeast  if you will. However this movie could turn out to be the next  (you should be ashamed if you haven’t seen it) with Famuyima behind it, and if it does we might see Rick Famuyiwa hit us with some more gems sooner than you think.

Check out  in theaters June 19th!
