Happy Birthday Delle! (2009)

My birthday post for Delle last year had such a dark picture.  What was I thinking?  So this year, I chose a much brighter picture and one that has a much happier smile on her.  It just sucks that I’m sick on her birthday.  I missed our yearly salubong for her birthday last night, and then now as we speak, our barkada is having a pool party/dinner for her birthday, while I’m stuck at home nursing a high fever.  The doctor said the fever should break in 3 days, because if not, it could be dengue.  I really pray it’s not.  I swear, this really sucks, and to think I just got well from another bout with the flu a couple of weeks back.  So earlier, while doing our birthday episode for Delle, I was struggling to keep up, with my fever burning high.  Sigh.

If last year was my annus horribilis, I think this year is Delle’s.  Although it’s been generally difficult for the two of us, Delle had to deal with a lot this year.  At least the hope is that we end up as better people having gone through all that.  As Calvin’s (of Calvin & Hobbes) dad always says, if he has to do something he doesn’t want, it “builds character”.  So I guess we’ve been doing a lot of character-building the past couple of years.  I do hope the good winds of change start blowing our way, and to be honest, it has already.  So we can’t really complain.  I guess what we took from the whole Ondoy/Pepeng episode was to cherish what we have now, because it could be taken from us just like that.

When Delle repeatedly got teary-eyed this morning during the show, it wasn’t because she’s sad.  In fact, she’s overwhelmed by all the love going her way.  It’s actually easier to bring her to tears by showing her a lot of kindness than by trying to tear her down.  She knows she’s a lucky woman.  Things don’t always turn out the way she expected, but she truly has learned to appreciate all the good that has gone her way.

So again, I can’t really think straight anymore because of my raging fever, these are ravings of a convulsing man, so I’d just like to greet Delle again, A HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
