HAKEN – Sempiternal Beings (2023)

Haken are an English progressive metal band formed in 2007 by multi-instrumentalist Richard Henshall, guitarist Matthew Marshall, and vocalist Ross Jennings. While Henshall, Marshall, and Jennings first had the idea of forming Haken in 2004, they opted to pursue their instruments and songwriting first. Wikipedia

In stasis, it bends but won’t break us Aurelia, majestic as a lion’s roar embodies her Terranean, threaten and shield us Endanger, recoil and rewind the tapes She’s born again

Always returning How is this possible? It’s never over I’ll meet you in another life!

Medusa, a haunting allure Elusive ectoplasmic residue She’ll dance for you Inducing hydro-cosmic dreams in you Of eternal blue

Spineless Stinger Servant Healer

And I’m seven less heartbeats away But no one’s keeping time The lengths I would go through to meet with you In another life And the ocean between us is where We find inner peace When will we cease to convince ourselves We’re sempiternal beings?

Stoned by her gaze The queen of despair Oh, chimeless bell of snakes Delight the liquid air She emanates the squall and serene Consuming no more Than she wants or she needs

And I’m seven less heartbeats away But no one’s keeping time The lengths I would go through to meet with you In another life And the ocean between us is where We find inner peace When will we cease to convince ourselves We’re sempiternal beings?

Oh, is it then or now? It’s a long way down Neither day nor night Is this death or life?

And I’m seven less heartbeats away But no one’s keeping time The lengths I would go through to meet with you In another life And the ocean between us is where We find inner peace When will we cease to convince ourselves We’re sempiternal beings? (Seven less heartbeats away) And I’m seven less heartbeats away But no one’s keeping time (The lengths I would go through to stay) The lengths I would go through to meet with you In another life (An ocean between us avails) And the ocean between us is where We find inner peace (We keep convincing ourselves) When will we cease to convince ourselves We’re sempiternal beings?
