Konnor Giffin has only been in High-A baseball a week. Turns out it hasn’t taken him long to adjust to the level. He was named as the South Atlantic League’s player of the week today.

Through six games he is hitting .407 with a .469 OPB. He has hit four doubles and two home runs, while driving in eight runs. He also has six stolen bases.

It’s good to see he is out to a fast start even at the higher level. It’s also impressive to see him win player of the week so fast. He for sure continues to be one of the top Pirates prospects to watch and easily the top hitting prospect in the Pirates system.

If he keeps up the production, I could see him making an all-star team and maybe pushing for another call up to Double-A by the end of the season. Maybe we could even get him some considerations for the Future’s game this year. Yet for the time being it’s fun to watch him hit. Hopefully this progression keeps happening and we get a top prospect to pan out.

Hopefully the production also helps boost Greensboro to a first half title. The Grasshoppers are currently a half game behind Brooklyn in the division standings. Greensboro won the first half in 2024 so it would be nice to see them defend that title this year. With a top performer like Griffin on the roster I have no doubt we see another playoff berth this season.
