Griffin Named Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year 2025

S. Samek

Konnor Griffin was named “Baseball America’s” minor league player of the year for 2025.

Griffin ascended quickly through the Pirates minor league system in 2025 playing at three levels, single-A, High-A and Double-A. He was the first Altoona Curve player to win the award.

In 122 games played he hit .333 with 21 home runs, 94 RBI. He stolen a combined 65 bases while only being caught 13 times. He had 23 doubles and four triples as well.

He won a South Atlantic League player of the week award this season. He was also named a South Atlantic League post season All-Star and the top MLB prospect in the South Atlantic League.

He is also up for the MILB hitting prospect of the year award.

It’s nice to see him get another award after the tremendous season he had across three levels of minor league baseball. Surprised to see he wasn’t in the running for a postseason All-Star spot at High-A and Double-A as well. Though it doesn’t diminish the season he had which was great offensively. His speed was also on showcase with the impressive stolen base numbers.

He absolutely earned his spot as the number one prospect in the Pittsburgh Pirates top 30 as well as the top prospect in all of baseball.

Can’t wait to see where career is goes from here. Though for now it’s fun to watch the top prospect as a Pirates fan.
