Pittsburgh Pirates top prospect Konnor Griffin was recently promoted to Double-A Altoona. He then made his level debut on Tuesday August 19th, 2025, against the Reading Fightin Phils. He hit second and played shortstop.

In his first at -bat at the level he hit a single. He then stole second and reached third base on an error. He was then thrown out trying to score.

In the third inning he struck out and in the fourth he grounded into a double play. In the sixth he hit a sacrifice fly that tied the game at five. Then in the eighth he struck out again. Overall, he finished 1-4 with an RBI and two strikeouts and a stolen base. The steal was his 60th of the season, which makes him the first Pirates prospect to steal 60 bases in a season sense 2001 when Manny Ravelo stole 70 bases.

The Curve would go on to win the game 6-5 and hold a two and a half game lead in the Eastern League Southwest division.

It was a pretty good debut for Griffin at the Double-A level. Hoping he can keep up the success and help Altoona to a second half title.
