Konnor Griffin has been having a great 2025 season. He has been promoted to High-A and selected to the futures game. Now he adds another achievement to the list. Being named the number one prospect in the MLB Pipeline top 100.

Roman Anthony of the Boston Red Sox was the former number one prospect. He graduated off the list on Thursday July 24th, 2025, from enough service time in the majors. This required the selection of a new top prospect. That prospect is the Pittsburgh Pirates Griffin.

Griffin has also overtaken Bubba Chandler as the number one prospect in the system, while Chandler falls to number two in the system. Chandler is ranked number five on the current top 100 list.

Griffin marked his first game as the highest ranked prospect with a 4-5 day with a double, two RBIS, a pair of runs scored in the Greensboro Grasshoppers 8-4 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Thursday night. The win extended the Grasshoppers current winning streak to three games.

With Griffin performing as well has he has been, even at the higher level it’s easy to see why he was named the number one prospect. It’s exciting to watch and I can’t wait to see him continue to rise the ranks of the minor leagues.
