Greensboro Perfect Game
S. Samek
The Greensboro Grasshoppers pitching staff provided their own fireworks on July 4th, 2025.
Three Grasshoppers’ pitchers combined for nine perfect innings as they shutout the Aberdeen IronBirds 2-0. Khristian Curtis, the number 24 ranked Pittsburgh Pirates prospect threw the first six innings. He struck out 10 hitters.
Jake Shirk then pitched a pair of innings and struck out four batters. Michael Walsh was the given the ball to close it out in the nineth inning. Walsh struck out a pair and didn’t allow a baserunner to finish off the perfect game. He was credited with his fourth save of the season. Curtis was the winning pitcher, while Shirk was credited with a hold.
The perfect game was the first nine inning perfect game in a non-complex league sense 2017.
It’s an impressive feat to throw a perfect game. Just awesome to see a Pittsburgh Pirate affiliated team reach this milestone. It seems like every time you turn around this Greensboro team is making noise, doing something good and having big games. They are probably the team to watch the closest in the Pirates system currently.
I can’t wait to see what this team has in store for the second half. Hoping they can win the second half title after being so close to winning the first half title. Keep tuning in to follow the exciting happenings with this team.
