Greensboro Grasshoppers Erupt for 27 Runs in Win over Ashville

The Greensboro Grasshoppers were on a role on Saturday August 9th, 2025. The offense was explosive as they scored 27 runs on 22 hits and drawing 10 walks in a 27-4 win over the Ashville Tourists. Every Greensboro hitter had at least one hit.

Konnor Griffin went 3-6 with two walks and an RBI. Callan Moss, who was recently acquired in a trade went 3-5 with a home run, a double and three RBI. Will Taylor had a home and four RBI. Another recent trade addition, Ivan Brethowr had a home run and six RBI as a part of a four-hit night. Derek Berg also went yard in the game while knocking in four runs. Jesus Castillo hit a pair of doubles and drove in four runs as well.

It really was a balanced offensive showing throughout the lineup.

Sadly, it wasn’t a record-breaking performance. The Chattanooga Lookouts put up 29 runs in a game back in 2023, as well as the DSL Yankees putting up 32 runs in a 2022 game against the DSL Pirates Black. Fun fact Keiner Delgado, played for the that DSL Yankee team during that game prior to being traded to the Pirates in 2024. Though Delgado was not in the lineup for the Grasshoppers on Saturday night.

it was an impressive performance and good to see some hitting by a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliated team. The win was Greensboro’s 76th of the season too, which the most in MILB. Even after a loss on Sunday August 10th, 2025, to Ashville they are 76-31, 45 games over .500 this season. They just keep impressing me and still rank as the team to watch this season in the Pirates system. What will the accomplish next? Hopefully the Southern Division second half title and another trip to the playoffs.
