Goodbye Asus netbook. Hello Toshiba Satellite laptop!

This is a blog post to say goodbye to my little netbook.  It served me well during the 2010/11 season with Dulwich Tuskers where all I needed it to do was play videos for hand notation, handle MS Office and surf the internet.  In the 2011/12 season, I pushed its processing power to the absolute maximum with StatEasy.  I complained a lot that it was slow and the screen was too small.  Thus, it was time to get an upgrade.  So please welcome the Toshiba Satellite (Intel Core i5, 6Gb RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000).

I am sad to see the netbook go because it has been with me since the start of my performance analysis career.  However, I am excited about a powerful laptop that will cut down my analysis time by a considerable margin.  I am looking forward to the new season and breaking Toshiba’s processing power.

*** Update 1 February 2021 | That laptop only lasted 2.5 years when I spilt some coffee on the laptop and then the keyboard didn’t work properly so it was essentially useless when coding matches.  I changed laptops in January 2015 and that one lasted a good 5.5 years (although each hinge broke twice, incurring repair charges that could have paid for half of my next laptop).  That laptop basically got slow so I got myself another one in July 2020.  It’s a great laptop but due to Covid lockdowns, I have only used it properly for the Champions League First Round in Trentino (see link).  We will see how long this one will last ***
